About: Barbara Jean Walsh

I have been involved in the marine industry since 1988, when I first began working part time as support staff at WoodenBoat Publications in Brooklin, Maine. As my part-time job there evolved into a new career for me, I was able to transfer my existing skills as an administrator, a researcher, and an educator into a series of interesting jobs. There, I honed my writing ability and editing skills, learned database management, and helped to organize more than 1,000 seminars for the marine industry as part of the IBEX team. I have been a “telecommuter” now since 1993, working from home to develop and manage new programs – including ProBoat Radio -- for Professional BoatBuilder magazine. Most recently, I have been investigating new ways to expand the educational services now offered by ProBoat E-Training, and I am chair of the planning committee for the Conference on Marine Industry Technical Training, also known as COMITT.
